Piggy backing is right - they are preying to catch someone depressed, lonely, recently dumped, cheated on
and more likely reacting to feelings and unable to think clearly.
and they practice every week to hit the cords just right.

Who will be resurrected according to the WTS?
by M.J. ini was wondering what the wts's stand is on who will be resurrected into the "new system".
because of the assertion that people have been "freed from sin" upon their death, shouldn't just about all people who ever lived deserve a resurrection?.
the only ones who won't be resurrected, according to the wts, are those who commit the unforgiveable sin:*** g75 10/22 p. 12 how can you benefit from this hope?

I appreciate the thread MJ - thanks
When you haven't officially been taught what the official stance is - its hard to know.
Even the official teachers don't have a straight answer.
so at the end of the voting day, when the verdict is in, resurrected or not.....
the question now becomes - resurrected? or re created?
it never ends eh? so little time?

Nearly a week smoke-free, and I am MOODY!!!
by AlmostAtheist ini've been off of cigarettes for almost a week now.
i'm chewing nicotine gum like mad, but i can still feel myself melting down inside.
the world seems like such a crummy place to be right now.

ps:
An article I read really helped set my mind right. "Why bad beliefs don't die".
If you're interested, I think I still have a copy, or maybe even a link.
basically it explains how the addictive cycle works.
when you deprive your body from the drug (or whatever) your brain goes into survival mode.
it will do just about anything & everything to get what it needs cause it thinks it'll die without it!
did you see Trainspotting? yuck -

Dave - keep up the good work.
I tried to quit many, many times. so many times that I got sick of trying! So I quit!
wonder who else can relate?
you make the decision, you plan for it, psyche yourself up, finally set a date, change it to the next day, go without for a day or 2 (I couldn't even go a day!) for the whole time all you think about is smoking til you break down bum one, 2, then ooops its off the the corner store. Then you have to hide for about a week or 2, then once you're caught, you're officially smoking again.....how long this time?
the whole cycle starts all over again.
so I DECIDED, not thru "willpower" thats it. Didn't even do the gum. Vigorous exercise really helps - esp cause if you have a patch or gum you risk heart attack.
whatever you do Please do not smoke & chew.

the quote...... 13.8 million-strong worldwide faith
could be a normal person's assumption, using memorial attendance numbers.
Most "faiths" don't keep such strict membership numbers. Whereas it is very important to high control groups.
Like alot of houses of worship who swell during Christmas or Easter, hannakah, ramadam, ede, just because they don't go every week or are classed as "ministers", they are still counted as belonging to the "faith" - Christian, jew, muslim, hindu .....
I think its an innocent assumption.

I'm a little surprised at the lack of enthusiasm to these threads?
Here we have Stephen Bates, an "outsider" spending his time & energy to publicize the injustices of the WT,
where this board, for the most part, shares & suffers in secret.
